Best Of: 2012 Musician's Picks - Part II

We're back again for the second and final installment in our 2012 Top Ten lists. Part I was posted a few weeks back, and we're pretty stoked about the response we had to it. We gathered up a few more responses and lists, edited them up all fancy-like for your ass, and dropped that shit in your face like a hot load. Lick it up...

Brett Thomas - Ladybird

1. In The Company Of Serpents “self titled” - Two piece sludge outfit from Denver that have that southern groove.

2. Pigeonwing “***” - Another two piece, but from Long Beach. These two fucks are amazing. Watching them live you can tell how much they play with each other. (Yes, that sexual pun was intended you shit stabber) Ryan’s bass is crushing, I think he played out of six full stacks at Southwest Terror Fest. And Rick, well, he fell asleep before the after party even started. But seriously, Rick beats those drum skins harder than Ryan’s dick.

3. BottomFeeder 7 inch - Angry and Danish as shit. Two of the heaviest and angriest songs I’ve heard in a while. These guys are going to be heading for the U.S. this year so be ready to have your dicks blown off.

4. Mars By Night “Savageland” - This isn’t even a full album, its one song that you can only watch on fucking youtube. I can’t wait for these guys to put something out, the vocals and rolling doom really gets me.

5. Om “Adviatic Songs” - Who doesn’t like Om?

6. Methdrinker “self titled” - Hell yeah. Right up there with Bottomfeeder. I doubt you could drink meth though, maybe if you put it in your water bottle and stir that shit up like a protein shake. You could probably lift more then that girl at the gym who counts her pelvic thrust repetitions.

7. Dopelord “Magick Rited” - Solid classic stoner doom metal. Distant vocals, sparse solos, satanic imagery with naked girls, doesn’t get much better than that. I guess a beer would be nice too.

8. Orb Weaver “self titled” - This three piece is from Tacoma. Big fan of three pieces especially when they all do vocals. Lo fi raw recordings, can’t wait for more. I hear the drummer is a babe.

9. The Body “self titled” - This album makes me drive faster.

10. Goya “demo” - These dudes run the space we practice at. Fucking awesome. A whole bunch of intricate guitar work and a pedal board that looks like a fucking space station. The guitarist has an Orange and an Emperor cab, every time I see it at the space I touch it.
